أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي النَّضْرِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو النَّضْرِ هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ الْأَشْجَعِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ مِغْوَلٍ عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ مُصَرِّفٍ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي مَسِيرٍ قَالَ «فَنَفِدَتْ أَزْوَادُ الْقَوْمِ» قَالَ «وَهَمُّوا بِنَحْرِ بَعْضِ حَمَائِلِهِمْ» فَقَالَ عُمَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ «لَوْ جَمَعْتَ مَا بَقِيَ مِنْ أَزْوَادِ الْقَوْمِ فَدَعَوْتَ اللهَ عَلَيْهَا فَفَعَلَ فَجَاءَ ذُو الْبِرِّ بِبُرِّهِ وَذُو التَّمْرِ بِتَمْرِهِ» قَالَ وَقَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ «وَذُو النَّوَى بِنَوَاهُ» قَالَ فَقُلْتُ وَمَا كَانُوا يَصْنَعُونَ بِالنَّوَى؟ قَالَ «يَمُصُّونَهُ وَيَشْرَبُونَ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ» قَالَ فَدَعَا عَلَيْهَا حَتَّى مَلَأَ الْقَوْمُ أَزْوِدَتَهُمْ فَقَالَ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ «أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللهِ لَا يَلْقَى اللهَ بِهِمَا عَبْدٌ غَيْرُ شَاكٍ فِيهِمَا إِلَّا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ»

✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey. He said: 'The provisions of the people ran out.' He said: 'And they resolved to slaughter some of their riding camels.' 'Umar said, 'O Messenger of Allah, if you would gather what remains of the people's provisions and supplicate to Allah over them.' He did so. The one who had wheat brought his wheat, and the one who had dates brought his dates.' He said, and Mujahid said: 'And the one who had date pits brought his date pits.' He said: I said, 'And what would they do with date pits?' He said, 'They would suck them and drink water upon them.' He said, 'He supplicated over them until the people filled their provision sacks.' At that he said: 'I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah. No servant meets Allah with these two, not doubting in them, but he will enter Paradise.'
