أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَسْرُوقِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْجَرْمِيُّ قَالَ
كَانَ يَمُرُّ عَلَيْنَا الرُّكْبَانُ فَنَتَعَلَّمُ مِنْهُمُ الْقُرْآنَ فَأَتَى أَبِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «لِيَؤُمَّكُمْ أَكْثَرُكُمْ قُرْآنًا» فَجَاءَ أَبِي فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «يَؤُمُّكُمْ أَكْثَرُكُمْ قُرْآنًا» فَنَظَرُوا فَكُنْتُ أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا فَكُنْتُ أَؤُمُّهُمْ وَأَنَا ابْنُ ثَمَانِ سِنِينٍ

✧ Caravans would pass by us and we would learn the Qur’an from them. My father went to the Prophet ﷺ and he said: “Let the one among you who knows the most Qur’an lead you.” My father came and said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Let the one among you who knows the most Qur’an lead you.’” They looked and I knew the most Qur’an, so I led them, and I was eight years old.
