al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 8592

✧ The man has money with the polytheists and says, 'Something can make his wealth increase'.

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ثَابِتًا الْبُنَانِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

لَمَّا افْتَتَحَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَيْبَرَ قَالَ الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ عِلَاطٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ لِي بِمَكَّةَ مَالًا وَإِنَّ لِي بِهَا أَهْلًا وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ آتِيَهُمْ فَإِنَّا فِي حِلٍّ إِنْ أَنَا نِلْتُ مِنْكَ وَقُلْتُ شَيْئًا فَأَذِنَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ عَلَى امْرَأَتِهِ بِمَكَّةَ قَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ «اجْمَعِي مَا كَانَ لِي مِنْ مَالٍ وَشَيْءٍ فَإِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَشْتَرِيَ مِنْ مَغَانِمِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَصْحَابِهِ فَإِنَّهُمْ قَدْ أُبِيحُوا وَذَهَبَتْ أَمْوَالُهُمْ فَانْقَمَعَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ وَأَظْهَرَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ فَرَحًا وَسُرُورًا»

✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ conquered Khaybar, al-Hajjaj b. ʿIlat said, “O Messenger of God, I have wealth in Makkah and family there, and I want to go to them. We are at liberty if I say something against you.” So the Messenger of God ﷺ gave him permission. When he came to his wife in Makkah, he said to his family, “Collect whatever wealth and goods I have, for I want to buy from the spoils of the Messenger of God ﷺ and his companions, for they have been made lawful and their wealth is gone.” The Muslims retreated and the polytheists showed joy and delight.
