✧ The burning and cutting of their palms

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ حَرَّقَ نَخْلَ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ وَقَطَعَ وَهِيَ الْبُوَيْرَةُ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ {مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِينَةٍ أَوْ تَرَكْتُمُوهَا قَائِمَةً عَلَى أُصُولِهَا فَبِإِذْنِ اللهِ وَلِيُخْزِي الْفَاسِقِينَ} [الحشر 5]

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ burned the palm trees of Banu al-Nadir and cut them down, and that was al-Buwayrah. Then Allah revealed: {Whatever you cut down of the palm trees or left standing on their roots, it is by Allah's permission, and to disgrace the transgressors} [al-Hashr: 5].
