أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَلَامُ أَبُو الْمُنْذِرِ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ قَالَ

«دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ فَإِذَا الْمَسْجِدُ غَاصٌّ بِالنَّاسِ فَإِذَا رَايَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ» قُلْتُ «مَا شَأْنُ النَّاسِ الْيَوْمَ؟» قَالُوا «هَذَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَبْعَثَ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ وَجْهًا»

✧ "I entered the mosque and found it thronged with people, and there was a black banner." I said, "What is the matter with the people today?" They said, "This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intending to send 'Amr b. al-'As on an expedition."
