al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 8480

✧ Translation: Words of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to Ali: "I have not asked anything for myself except that I have also asked it for you.

أَخْبَرَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ دِينَارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ الْأَحْمَرُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ

وُجِعْتُ وَجَعًا فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَقَامَنِي فِي مَكَانِهِ وَقَامَ يُصَلِّي وَأَلْقَى عَلَيَّ طَرَفَ ثَوْبِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «قُمْ يَا عَلِيُّ قَدْ بَرِئْتَ لَا بَأْسَ عَلَيْكَ وَمَا دَعَوْتُ لِنَفْسِي بِشَيْءٍ إِلَّا دَعَوْتُ لَكَ مِثْلَهُ وَمَا دَعَوْتُ بِشَيْءٍ إِلَّا قَدِ اسْتُجِيبَ لِي» أَوْ قَالَ أُعْطِيتُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قِيلَ لِي لَا نَبِيَّ بَعْدَكَ

✧ I suffered from pain, so I came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he made me stand in his place and stood to pray, and he threw the edge of his garment over me. Then he said: "Rise, O 'Ali, you have been cured, there is no harm upon you. I did not supplicate for myself with anything except that I supplicated for you with the like of it, and I did not supplicate for anything except that it was answered for me"—or he said: "I was given it—except that it was said to me: There is no prophet after you."
