al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 8479

✧ Translation: Words of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to Ali: "I have not asked anything for myself except that I have also asked it for you.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ وَاصِلِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ

مَرِضْتُ فَعَادَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ وَأنا مُضْطَجِعٌ فَاتَّكَأَ إِلَى جَنْبِي ثُمَّ سَجَّانِي بِثَوْبِهِ فَلَمَّا رَآنِي قَدْ هُدِيتُ قَامَ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ يُصَلِّي فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ جَاءَ فَرَفَعَ الثَّوْبَ عَنِّي وَقَالَ «قُمْ يَا عَلِيُّ فَقَدْ بَرِئْتَ فَقُمْتُ كَأَنَّمَا لَمْ أَشْتَكِ شَيْئًا قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ» فَقَالَ «مَا سَأَلْتُ رَبِّي شَيْئًا فِي صَلَاتِي إِلَّا أَعْطَانِي وَمَا سَأَلْتُ لِنَفْسِي شَيْئًا إِلَّا قَدْ سَأَلْتُ لَكَ» خَالَفَهُ جَعْفَرٌ الْأَحْمَرُ فَقَالَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ

✧ I fell ill, and the Messenger of God ﷺ visited me. He entered upon me while I was lying down, and he leaned beside me, then covered me with his garment. When he saw that I had recovered, he went to the mosque to pray. When he finished his prayer, he came and lifted the garment from me and said: "Rise, O 'Ali, for you have been cured." So I rose as if I had not complained of anything before that. He said: "I did not ask my Lord for anything in my prayer except that He gave it to me, and I did not ask anything for myself except that I also asked it for you." Ja'far al-Ahmar differed from him, saying: From Yazid b. Abi Ziyad, from 'Abd Allah b. al-Harith, from 'Ali.
