✧ position of Ali bin Abi Talib, his closeness to the Prophet ﷺ, his companionship with him, and the love of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for him.

أَخْبَرَنِي هِلَالُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَرَارٍ قَالَ §سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ قُلْتُ أَلَا تُحَدِّثُنِي عَنْ عَلِيٍّ وَعُثْمَانَ؟ قَالَ

«أَمَّا عَلِيٌّ فَهَذَا بَيْتُهُ مِنْ حُبِّ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنْهُ بِغَيْرِهِ وَأَمَّا عُثْمَانُ فَإِنَّهُ أَذْنَبَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ ذَنْبًا عَظِيمًا فَعَفَا اللهُ عَنْهُ وَأَذْنَبَ فِيكُمْ صَغِيرًا فَقَتَلْتُمُوهُ»

✧ “As for Ali, this is his house, out of the love of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I will not speak of him otherwise. As for Uthman, he committed a grave sin on the day of Uhud, and Allah pardoned him, and he committed a minor sin among you, and you killed him.”
