✧ The remembrance of his saying ﷺ "Ali is like myself

أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَحْوَصُ بْنُ جَوَابٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ يُثَيْعٍ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ بَنُو وَلِيعَةَ أَوْ لَأَبْعَثَنَّ إِلَيْهِمْ رَجُلًا كَنَفْسِي يُنْفِذُ فِيهِمْ أَمْرِي فَيَقْتُلَ الْمُقَاتِلَةُ وَيَسْبِيَ الذُّرِّيَّةَ» فَمَا رَاعَنِي إِلَّا وَكَفُّ عُمَرَ فِي حُجْزَتِي مِنْ خَلْفِي مَنْ يَعْنِي؟ فَقُلْتُ مَا إِيَّاكَ يَعْنِي وَلَا صَاحِبَكَ قَالَ «فَمَنْ يَعْنِي؟» قَالَ «خَاصِفُ النَّعْلِ» قَالَ «وَعَلِيٌّ يَخْصِفُ نَعْلَا»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Let the Banu Wali'ah desist, or I will send to them a man like myself who will carry out my command among them, killing the fighters and capturing the offspring." Nothing startled me except that Umar's hand was at my waist from behind me, saying, "Whom does he mean?" I said, "He does not mean you or your companion." He said, "Whom does he mean?" He said, "The one mending the sandal." And Ali was mending a sandal.
