أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَيُّوبَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «نَزَلَ جِبْرِيلُ إِلَى هَاجَرَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ فَرَكَضَ عَلَيْهِ مَوْضِعَ زَمْزَمَ بِعَقِبِهِ فَنَبَعَ الْمَاءُ» قَالَ فَجَعَلَتْ هَاجَرُ تَجْمَعَ الْبَطْحَاءَ حَوْلَهُ لَا يَتَفَرَّقُ الْمَاءُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «رَحِمَ اللهُ هَاجَرَ لَوْ تَرَكَتْهَا كَانَ عَيْنَا مَعِينًا» قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي حَمَّادٌ لَا يَذْكُرُ أُبَيَّ بْنَ كَعْبٍ وَلَا يَرْفَعُهُ قَالَ «أَنَا أَحْفَظُ لِذَا هَكَذَا» حَدَّثَنِي بِهِ أَيُّوبُ قَالَ وَهْبٌ وَحَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ نَحْوَهُ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ أُبَيًّا وَلَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ وَهْبٌ فَأَتَيْتُ سَلَامَ بْنَ أَبِي مُطِيعٍ فَحَدَّثَنِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ فَرَوَى لَهُ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فَرَدَّ ذَلِكَ رَدًّا شَدِيدًا ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي «فَأَبُوكَ مَا يَقُولُ؟» قُلْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ أَيُّوبُ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ «الْعَجَبُ وَاللهِ مَا يَزَالُ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا الْحَافِظُ قَدْ غَلِطَ» إِنَّمَا هُوَ أَيُّوبُ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ who said: “Jibril descended to Hajar and Ismail and struck the place of Zamzam with his heel, and water gushed forth.” He said: Hajar began to gather the pebbles around it so that the water would not spread. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “May Allah have mercy on Hajar. Had she left it, it would have been a flowing spring.” He said: I said to Abu Hammad: He does not mention Ubayy b. Ka'b nor does he raise it. He said: “I remember it like this. Ayyub narrated it to me.” Wahb said: And Hammad b. Zayd narrated to us from Ayyub from Abdullah b. Said b. Jubayr from his father from Ibn Abbas something similar, and he did not mention Ubayy nor the Prophet ﷺ. Wahb said: I came to Salam b. Abi Muti', and he narrated this hadith to me, and he narrated from Hammad b. Zayd from Ayyub from Abdullah b. Said b. Jubayr, and he rejected that strongly. Then he said to me: “What does your father say?” I said: My father says: Ayyub from Said b. Jubayr. He said: “How strange, by Allah, a man from our companions, the memorizer, has made a mistake. It is only Ayyub from Ikrimah b. Khalid.”
