✧ The intensification of resentment towards the Ansar

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «فِي الْأَنْصَارِ لَا يُحِبُّهُمْ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَبْغَضُهُمْ إِلَّا كَافِرٌ مَنْ أَحَبَّهُمْ أَحَبَّهُ اللهُ وَمَنْ أَبْغَضَهُمْ أَبْغَضَهُ اللهُ» قَالَ شُعْبَةُ قُلْتُ لِعَدِيٍّ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنَ الْبَرَاءِ قَالَ «إِيَّايَ حَدَّثَ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said concerning the Ansar, “None loves them but a believer, and none hates them but a disbeliever. Whoever loves them, Allah loves him, and whoever hates them, Allah hates him.” Shu'bah said, “I said to 'Adi, 'Did you hear this from al-Bara'?' He said, 'He narrated it to me directly.'”
