أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَعَثَ بَعْثًا وَأَمَّرَ عَلَيْهِمْ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ وَطَعَنَ بَعْضُ النَّاسِ فِي إِمْرَتِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنْ تَطْعَنُوا فِي إِمْرَتِهِ فَقَدْ كُنْتُمْ تَطْعَنُونَ فِي إِمْرَةِ أَبِيهِ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَايْمُ اللهِ إِنْ كَانَ لَخَلِيقًا لِلْإِمْرَةِ وَإِنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَحَبِّ النَّاسِ إِلَيَّ وَإِنَّ هَذَا لِمَنْ أَحَبِّ النَّاسِ إِلَيَّ بَعْدَهُ»

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent an expedition and appointed Usama b. Zayd over them, and some people criticized his command. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If you criticize his command, you had criticized his father's command before. By Allah, he was indeed worthy of command, and he was among the most beloved of people to me. And this one is among the most beloved of people to me after him."
