أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمِّي قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبِي عَنْ صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ أَنَّ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ نَافِعِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَارِثِ الْخُزَاعِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ أَبَا مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيَّ
أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ فِي حَائِطٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ عَلَى قُفِّ الْبِئْرِ مُدَلِّيًا رِجْلَيْهِ فَدَقَّ الْبَابَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ» فَفَعَلَ فَدَخَلَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَدَلَّى رِجْلَيْهِ ثُمَّ دَقَّ الْبَابَ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ» فَفَعَلَ ثَمَّ دَقَّ الْبَابَ عُثْمَانُ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ وَسَيَلْقَى بَلَاءً»

✧ He informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in a garden in Madinah on the edge of a well, dangling his legs. Abu Bakr knocked on the door, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Give him permission and give him glad tidings of Paradise." He did so, and Abu Bakr entered and dangled his legs. Then Umar knocked on the door, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Give him permission and give him glad tidings of Paradise." He did so. Then Uthman knocked on the door, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Give him permission and give him glad tidings of Paradise, and he will face affliction."
