أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ آدَمَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ فُضَيْلٍ عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ يَسِيرِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ قُلْتُ لَهُ أَخْبِرْنِي مَا

سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْحَرُورِيَّةِ قَالَ أُخْبِرُكُ مَا سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَا أَزِيدُ عَلَيْهِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ نَحْوَ الْمَغْرِبِ قَالَ «يَخْرُجُ مِنْ هَاهُنَا قَوْمٌ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ يَمْرُقُونَ مِنَ الدِّينِ كَمَا يَمْرُقُ السَّهْمُ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ»

Translation

✧ You heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the Haruriyyah? He said: "I will tell you what I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, without adding to it. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he struck his hand toward the west, saying: 'From here there will emerge a people who recite the Qur'an, but it does not go beyond their collarbones. They pass through the religion as an arrow passes through the target.'"
