أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ مَالِكٍ وَالْحَارِثِ بْنِ مِسْكِينٍ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «يَخْرُجُ قَوْمٌ تَحْقِرُونَ صَلَاتَكُمْ مَعَ صَلَاتِهِمْ وَصِيَامَكُمْ مَعَ صِيَامِهِمْ وَعَمَلَكُمْ مَعَ عَمَلِهِمْ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ حَنَاجِرَهُمْ يَمْرُقُونَ مِنَ الدِّينِ مُرُوقَ السَّهْمِ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ يَنْظُرُ فِي النَّصْلِ فَلَا يَرَى شَيْئًا ثُمَّ يَنْظُرُ فِي الْقَدَحِ فَلَا يَرَى شَيْئًا ثُمَّ يَنْظُرُ فِي الرِّيشِ فَلَا يَرَى شَيْئًا وَيَتَمَادَى فِي الْفُوقِ»

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "A people will emerge whose prayer you will despise in comparison to your prayer, whose fasting you will despise in comparison to your fasting, and whose deeds you will despise in comparison to your deeds. They recite the Qur'an, but it does not go beyond their throats. They pass through the religion as an arrow passes through the target. He looks at the arrowhead and sees nothing, then looks at the shaft and sees nothing, then looks at the fletching and sees nothing, and he is uncertain about the notch."
