✧ saying of the Prophet ﷺ "Do not compete with each other in reciting the Quran

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ مَالِكٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ التَّمَّارِ عَنِ الْبَيَاضِيِّ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «خَرَجَ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ وَقَدْ عَلَتْ أَصْوَاتُهُمْ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ» فَقَالَ «إِنَّ الْمُصَلِّيَ يُنَاجِي رَبَّهُ فَلْيَنْظُرْ مَاذَا يُنَاجِيهِ بِهِ وَلَا يَجْهَرُ بَعْضُكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ فِي الْقُرْآنِ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to the people while they were praying and their voices were raised with recitation. He said, "Verily, the one who is in prayer is having a confidential conversation with his Lord, so let each one of you see what he converses with his Lord in, and do not compete with one another in recitation of the Quran."
