أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُجَاهِدًا عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «صُمْ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ» قَالَ إِنِّي أُطِيقُ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَمَا زَالَ حَتَّى قَالَ «صُمْ يَوْمًا وَأَفْطِرْ يَوْمًا» وَقَالَ «اقْرَأِ الْقُرْآنَ فِي شَهْرٍ» فَقُلْتُ إِنِّي أُطِيقُ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى قَالَ «اقْرَأِ الْقُرْآنَ فِي ثَلَاثٍ»

Translation

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "Fast three days of the month." He said: "I can do more than that." He said: He kept on until he said: "Fast one day and break the fast one day." And he said: "Read the Qur'an in a month." I said: "I can do more than that," until he said: "Read the Qur'an in three [days]."
