أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُجَالِدٍ وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ عَنْ أَسْبَاطِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ
قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فِي كَمْ أَخْتِمُ الْقُرْآنَ؟ قَالَ «اخْتِمْهُ فِي كُلِّ شَهْرٍ» قُلْتُ إِنِّي أُطِيقُ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ «اخْتِمْهُ فِي خَمْسٍ وعشرين» قُلْتُ إِنِّي أُطِيقُ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ «اخْتِمْهُ فِي خمس عشرة» قُلْتُ إِنِّي أُطِيقُ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ «اخْتِمْهُ فِي عَشْرٍ» قُلْتُ إِنِّي أُطِيقُ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ «اخْتِمْهُ فِي خَمْسٍ» قَالَ إِنِّي أُطِيقُ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ «فَمَا رَخَّصَ لِي»

✧ I said: "O Messenger of Allah, in how many days should I complete the Qur'an?" He said: "Complete it in a month." I said: "I can do better than that." He said: "Complete it in twenty-five." I said: "I can do better than that." He said: "Complete it in fifteen." I said: "I can do better than that." He said: "Complete it in ten." I said: "I can do better than that." He said: "Complete it in five." He said: "I can do better than that." He said: "But he did not grant me any concession."
