✧ The place of prostration

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ لُوَيْنٌ بِالْمِصِّيصَةِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ وَالنُّعْمَانِ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ

كُنْتُ جَالِسًا إِلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ فَحَدَّثَ أَحَدُهُمَا حَدِيثَ الشَّفَاعَةَ وَالْآخَرُ مُنْصِتٌ قَالَ فَتَأْتِي الْمَلَائِكَةُ فَتَشْفَعُ وَتَشْفَعُ الرُّسُلُ وَذَكَرَ الصِّرَاطَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَأَكُونُ أَوَّلَ مَنْ يُجِيزُ فَإِذَا فَرَغَ اللهُ مِنَ الْقَضَاءِ بَيْنَ خَلْقِهِ وَأَخْرَجَ مِنَ النَّارِ مَنْ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُخْرِجَ أَمَرَ اللهُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ وَالرُّسُلَ أَنْ تَشْفَعَ فَيُعْرَفُونَ بِعَلَامَاتِهِمْ إِنَّ النَّارَ تَأْكُلُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ مِنِ ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا مَوْضِعَ السُّجُودِ فَيُصَبُّ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ مَاءِ الْجَنَّةِ فَيَنْبُتُونَ كَمَا تَنْبُتُ الْحَبَّةُ فِي السَّيْلِ»

✧ I was sitting with Abu Hurayrah and Abu Sa‘id. One of them narrated the hadith of intercession while the other listened. He said, “The angels will come and intercede, and the messengers will intercede.” He mentioned the Sirat. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “I will be the first to cross. When Allah finishes judging between His creation and brings out of the Fire whom He wills to bring out, Allah commands the angels and the messengers to intercede. They will be recognized by their marks, for the Fire consumes everything of the son of Adam except the place of prostration. Then water from Paradise will be poured on them, and they will grow as a seed grows in the torrent.”
