✧ The limitation of a man's stay to his wife when she commits adultery.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ وَارَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَعْيَنَ الْجَزَرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ إِنَّ وَلِيدَتِي زَنَتْ قَالَ «اجْلِدْهَا خَمْسِينَ» قَالَ فَإِنْ عَادَتْ؟ قَالَ «فَعُدْ» قَالَ فَإِنْ عَادَتْ قَالَ «فَعُدْ فَإِنْ عَادَتْ فَبِعْهَا وَلَوْ بِضَفِيرٍ» فِي الرَّابِعَةِ أَوِ الثَّالِثَةِ وَالضَّفِيرُ الْحَبْلُ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا خَطَأٌ وَالَّذِي قَبْلَهُ خَطَأٌ وَالصَّوَابُ الَّذِي قَبْلَهُ

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ that a man came to him and said: "My slave-girl has committed adultery." He said: "Flog her fifty lashes." He said: "What if she returns?" He said: "Then return [to flogging]." He said: "What if she returns?" He said: "Then return [to flogging]; if she returns, then sell her, even for a hair rope," on the fourth or third occasion. And al-dafir is the rope. Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said: This is an error, and the one before it is an error. The correct version is the one before that.
