أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الْحَرَّانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَتَّابٍ سَهْلُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ

عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ أَنَّ نَاسًا مِنْ بَنِي ثَعْلَبَةَ أَصَابُوا رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ عِنْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ هَؤُلَاءِ بَنُو ثَعْلَبَةَ قَتَلَةُ فُلَانٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تَجْنِي نَفْسٌ عَلَى أُخْرَى» قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَيْ لَا يُؤْخَذُ أَحَدٌ بِأَحَدٍ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ

✧ From al-Aswad b. Hilal, who had met the Prophet ﷺ, from a man of Banu Tha'labah b. Yarbu', that some people of Banu Tha'labah attacked a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ. A man said in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: "These are the Banu Tha'labah, killers of so-and-so." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "No soul shall bear the sin of another." Shu'bah said: "That is, no one is to be seized for another. And Allah knows best."
