أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

ذَبَحْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ شَاةً قَالَ «نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ» فَنَاوَلْتُهُ الذِّرَاعَ قَالَ «نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ» فَنَاوَلْتُهُ الذِّرَاعَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّمَا لِلشَّاةِ ذِرَاعَانِ قَالَ «لَوِ الْتَمَسْتَهُ وَجَدْتَهُ»

✧ I slaughtered a sheep for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: "Hand me the foreleg." So I handed him the foreleg. He said: "Hand me the foreleg." So I handed him the foreleg. Then he said: "Hand me the foreleg." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, a sheep has only two forelegs." He said: "If you had sought it, you would have found it."
