أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ قَالَ
أَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِقَصْعَةٍ فِيهَا ثُومٌ لَمْ يَأْكُلْ مِنْهَا وَبَعَثَ بِهَا إِلَيَّ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَمْ تَأْكُلْ مِنْهَا وَأَرْسَلْتَ بِهَا إِلَيَّ أَحَرَامٌ هُوَ؟ قَالَ «لَا وَلَكِنْ أَنَا كَرِهْتُ رِيحَهُ» قَالَ فَإِنِّي أَكْرَهُ مَا كَرِهْتَ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me a bowl containing garlic. He did not eat from it, and he sent it to me. I said, “O Messenger of Allah, you did not eat from it and you sent it to me - is it forbidden?” He said, “No, but I disliked its smell.” He said, “Then I dislike what you dislike.”
