✧ The virtue of giving charity to the deceased

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلَاءُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا مَاتَ الْإِنْسَانُ انْقَطَعَ عَنْهُ عَمَلُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ ثَلَاثَةٍ مِنْ صَدَقَةٍ جَارِيَةٍ أَوْ عِلْمٍ يُنْتَفَعُ بِهِ أَوْ وَلَدٍ صَالِحٍ يَدْعُو لَهُ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. ʿAlī b. Ḥujr
  2. Ismāʿīl
  3. al-ʿAlāʾ from his father
  4. Abū Hurayrah

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge that is benefited from, or a righteous child who supplicates for him.”
