✧ If the emancipator dies and the enslaved remains

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَاسْمُهُ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ سَيْفٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ وَاسْمُهُ الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مَاتَ فَقَالَ

النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «ابْتَغُوا لَهُ وَارِثًا» فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا وَارِثًا فَدَفَعَ مِيرَاثَهُ إِلَى الَّذِي أَعْتَقَهُ مِنْ نَسْلِهِ قُلْتُ مَنْ حَدَّثَكَ؟ قَالَ عَوْسَجَةُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Seek an heir for him.' They did not find an heir, so he gave his inheritance to the one who had set him free from his offspring. I said: 'Who narrated to you?' He said: 'Awsajah, from Ibn 'Abbas.'
