أَخْبَرَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ الْحَمَّالُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عِيسَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خَرَشَةَ عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ ذُؤَيْبٍ قَالَ جَاءَتِ الْجَدَّةُ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ تَسْأَلُهُ مِيرَاثَهَا فَقَالَ

مَا لَكِ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ وَمَا أَعْلَمُ لَكِ فِي سُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ شَيْئًا فَارْجِعِي حَتَّى أَسْأَلَ النَّاسَ فَسَأَلَ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ «حَضَرْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَعْطَاهَا السُّدُسَ» فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ هَلْ مَعَكَ غَيْرُكَ؟ فَقَامَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ فَقَالَ كَمَا قَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ فَأَنْفَذَهُ لَهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ

✧ You have nothing in the Book of Allah, and I do not know of anything for you in the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Go back until I ask the people. He asked the people, and al-Mughira b. Shu'ba said: 'I was present when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave her one-sixth.' Abu Bakr said: 'Is there anyone else with you?' Muhammad b. Maslama stood up and said the same as al-Mughira. So Abu Bakr gave it to her.
