أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الصَّنْعَانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو قَيْسٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ هُزَيْلًا يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ أَبَا مُوسَى عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ تَرَكَتِ ابْنَتَهَا وَأُخْتَهَا وَابْنَةَ ابْنِهَا فَقَالَ
لِلِابْنَةِ النِّصْفُ وَلِلْأُخْتِ النِّصْفُ وَائْتِ عَبْدَ اللهِ فَسَيُتَابِعُنِي فَأَتَى عَبْدَ اللهِ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ قَالَ فَوَجَدْتُ فِي الْكِتَابِ لَقَدْ ضَلَلْتُ إِذًا وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُهْتَدِينَ أَقْضِي فِيهَا بِمَا قَضَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِلِابْنَةِ النِّصْفُ وَلِابْنَةِ الِابْنِ السُّدُسُ وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلْأُخْتِ فَأَتَى أَبَا مُوسَى فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ لَا تَسْأَلُونِي عَنْ شَيْءٍ مَا دَامَ هَذَا الْحَبْرُ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِكُمْ

✧ The daughter gets half, and the sister gets half. Go to Abdullah, and he will follow me. So he went to Abdullah and mentioned that to him. He said: 'I found in the Book: Then I would have gone astray and I would not be of the rightly guided. I judge in it as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ judged: the daughter gets half, the son's daughter gets one-sixth, and what remains is for the sister.' Then he went to Abu Musa and mentioned that to him. He said: 'Do not ask me about anything as long as this scholar is among you.'
