أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ يُحَدِّثُ

عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ وَالْأَسْوَدِ أَنَّهُمَا كَانَا مَعَ عَبْدِ اللهِ فِي بَيْتِهِ فَقَالَ أَصَلَّى هَؤُلَاءِ؟ قَالَا نَعَمْ فَأَمَّهُمَا ثُمَّ قَامَ بَيْنَهُمَا بِغَيْرِ أَذَانٍ وَلَا إِقَامَةٍ وَقَالَ «إِذَا كُنْتُمْ ثَلَاثَةً فَاصْنَعُوا هَكَذَا وَإِذَا كُنْتُمْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَلْيَؤُمَّكُمْ أَحَدُكُمْ وَلْيَفْرِشْ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَى فَخِذَيْهِ فَكَأَنَّمَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَى اخْتِلَافِ أَصَابِعِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ»

Translation

✧ From 'Alqamah and al-Aswad that they were with 'Abdullah in his house. He said: 'Have these prayed?' They said: 'Yes.' So he led them, then stood between them without an adhan or iqamah, and said: 'When you are three, do like this; and when you are more than that, let one of you lead you, and let him spread his palms on his thighs.' It was as if I were looking at the interweaving of the fingers of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
