أَخْبَرَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِي يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

جَاءَ خَصْمَانِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَادَّعَى أَحَدُهُمَا عَلَى الْآخَرِ حَقًّا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لِلْمُدَّعِي «أَقِمْ بَيِّنَتَكَ» فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَيْسَ لِي بَيِّنَةٌ فَقَالَ لِلْآخَرِ «احْلِفْ بِاللهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ مَا لَهُ عَلَيْكَ أَوْ عِنْدَكَ شَيْءٌ فَحَلَفَ»

✧ Two disputants came to the Prophet ﷺ, and one of them claimed a right against the other. The Prophet ﷺ said to the claimant: Produce your evidence. He said: O Messenger of Allah, I have no evidence. He said to the other: Swear by Allah, besides whom there is no god, that he has nothing owed by you or in your possession, so he swore.
