أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ سَيْفٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّهُ تَقَاضَى ابْنَ أَبِي حَدْرَدٍ دَيْنًا كَانَ لَهُ عَلَيْهِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَارْتَفَعَتْ أَصْوَاتُهُمَا حَتَّى سَمِعَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتِهِ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمَا فَكَشَفَ سِتْرَ حُجْرَتِهِ فَنَادَى «يَا كَعْبُ» قَالَ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «ضَعْ مِنْ دَيْنِكَ هَذَا» وَأَوْمَأَ إِلَى الشَّطْرِ قَالَ قَدْ فَعَلْتُ قَالَ «قُمْ فَاقْضِهِ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَرْسَلَهُ مَعْمَرٌ [414] 5927 أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَنَّ كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ مُرْسَلٌ

Translation

✧ That he demanded repayment of a debt owed to him by Ibn Abi Hadrad in the mosque. Their voices rose until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard them while he was in his house. He came out to them and lifted the curtain of his room and called, 'O Ka'b.' He said, 'At your service, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Reduce your debt by this amount,' and he gestured to half. He said, 'I have done so.' He said, 'Then stand and pay it off.' Abu Abd al-Rahman said, 'Ma'mar sent it as mursal.'
