✧ The eagerness for the Emirate

أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ حُمْرَانَ قَالَ عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ «إِنَّكُمْ سَتَحْرِصُونَ عَلَى الْإِمَارَةِ وَإِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ حَسْرَةً وَنَدَامَةً يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَنِعْمَتِ الْمُرْضِعَةُ وَبِئْسَتِ الْفَاطِمَةُ»

✧ He used to say: “You will eagerly desire leadership, and it will be a remorse and a regret on the Day of Resurrection. What a good wet-nurse she is, and what an evil weaner!”
