✧ Abandoning the Use of Those Who are Concerned About the Judiciary

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَخِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى قَالَ

جَاءَ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ الْأَشْعَرِيِّينَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَجَعَلَا يُعَرِّضَانِ بِالْعَمَلِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ أَخْوَنَكُمْ عِنْدِي مَنْ طَلَبَهُ» فَمَا اسْتَعَانَ بِهِمَا عَلَى شَيْءٍ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَدْخَلَ عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ بَيْنَ أَخِيهِ وَبَيْنَ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ قُرَّةَ بْنَ بِشْرٍ

Translation

✧ Two men from the Ash'aris came to the Prophet ﷺ and began to solicit an appointment. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The most treacherous of you in my sight is the one who asks for it.” So he did not seek their help in anything. Abu Abd al-Rahman said: Abbad b. al-Awwam inserted Qurrah b. Bishr between his brother and Abu Burdah.
