أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْبُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي مُرَّةَ أَنَّ أَبَا وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ
قَالَ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذْ مَرَّ بِهِ ثَلَاثَةُ نَفَرٍ فَجَاءَ أَحَدُهُمْ فَوَجَدَ فُرْجَةً فِي حَلْقَةٍ فَجَلَسَ وَجَاءَ الْآخَرُ فَجَلَسَ مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ وَانْطَلَقَ الثَّالِثُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَبَرِ هَؤُلَاءِ؟» قَالُوا بَلَى قَالَ «أَمَّا الَّذِي جَاءَ فَجَلَسَ فَعَبْدٌ أَوَى فَآوَاهُ اللهُ وَأَمَّا الَّذِي جَلَسَ مِنْ وَرَائِكُمْ فَاسْتَحْيَا فَاسْتَحْيَا اللهُ مِنْهُ وَأَمَّا الَّذِي انْطَلَقَ فَرَجُلٌ أَعْرَضَ فَأَعْرَضَ اللهُ عَنْهُ»

✧ He said: While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, three men passed by him. One of them came, found a gap in the circle, and sat. Another came and sat behind them. The third went away. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Shall I inform you about these people?” They said, “Yes.” He said, “As for the one who came and sat, he sought refuge, so Allah sheltered him. As for the one who sat behind you, he was shy, so Allah was shy toward him. As for the one who went away, he turned away, so Allah turned away from him.”
