أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرَمِيُّ بْنُ حَفْصٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عِلَاثَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّ الْحَنَّانَ بْنَ خَارِجَةَ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِي قَالَ
بَيْنَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَخْبِرْنَا عَنْ ثِيَابِ الْجَنَّةِ أَخُلُقٌ يُخْلَقُ أَوْ نَسِيجٌ يُنْسَجُ فَضَحِكَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ «تَضْحَكُونَ أَنَّ جَاهِلًا يَسْأَلُ عَالِمًا» فَجَلَسَ يَسِيرًا أَوْ قَلِيلًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيْنَ السَّائِلُ عَنْ ثِيَابِ الْجَنَّةِ؟» قَالَ هَا هُوَ ذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «لَا بَلْ تُشَقَّقُ عَنْهَا ثَمَرُ الْجَنَّةِ» قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا

✧ While we were with the Messenger of God ﷺ, a man came to him and said: 'O Messenger of God, tell us about the garments of Paradise: are they created or woven?' Some of the people laughed, so he said to them: 'Do you laugh because an ignorant person asks a knowledgeable one?' Then he sat for a short while. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Where is the one asking about the garments of Paradise?' He said: 'Here he is, O Messenger of God.' He said: 'No, rather they are split from the fruits of Paradise.' He said it three times.
