أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَسُئِلَ عَنِ اللُّقَطَةِ فَقَالَ «مَا كَانَ مِنْهَا فِي الطَّرِيقِ الْمِيتَاءِ وَالْقَرْيَةِ الْجَامِعَةِ فَعَرِّفْهَا سَنَةً فَإِنْ جَاءَ صَاحِبُهَا فَادْفَعْهَا إِلَيْهِ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَأْتِ فَهِيَ لَكَ وَمَا كَانَ فِي الْخَرِبِ فَفِيهَا وَفِي الرِّكَازِ الْخُمُسُ»

✧ It was narrated from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he was asked about a found item, and he said: "Whatever is found in a well-trodden road or in a populous village, announce it for a year. If its owner comes, give it to him; if he does not come, it is yours. Whatever is found in ruins—in that, as well as in buried treasure, is one-fifth."
