al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 5696

✧ The belongings of the deceased whose husband will receive the news on the day it arrives.

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ هُوَ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ كَعْبٍ عَمَّتِي قَالَتْ حَدَّثَتْنِي فُرَيْعَةُ بِنْتُ مَالِكٍ أُخْتُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِي قَالَتْ

تُوُفِّيَ زَوْجِي بِالْقَدُّومِ فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ أَنَّ دَارَنَا شَاسِعَةً فَأَذِنَ لَهَا ثُمَّ دَعَاهَا فَقَالَ «امْكُثِي فِي بَيْتِكِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ الْكِتَابُ أَجَلَهُ»

✧ My husband died at al-Qaddūm. I came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned to him that our house was remote. He gave her permission, then called her back and said: “Stay in your house for four months and ten days until the prescribed term reaches its end.”
