✧ The establishment of limits on the drinking of wine

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَبَّانُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِي الْوَدَّاكِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ

أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِرَجُلٍ نَشْوَانَ فَقَالَ إِنِّي لَمْ أَشْرَبْ خَمْرًا إِنَّمَا شَرِبْتُ زَبِيبًا وَتَمْرًا فِي دُبَّاءٍ قَالَ «فَبُهِزَ بِالْأَيْدِي وَخُفِقَ بِالنِّعَالِ وَنَهَى عَنِ الزَّبِيبِ وَالتَّمْرِ أَنْ يُخْلَطَا»

✧ A man who was intoxicated was brought to the Prophet ﷺ. He said, "I did not drink wine; I only drank raisin and date infusion in a gourd." He ﷺ said, "He was struck with hands and beaten with sandals, and he prohibited mixing raisins and dates."
