✧ The establishment of the limit on those who drink alcohol based on interpretation

أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يُونُسَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رُكَانَةَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَمْ يُوَقِّتْ فِي الْخَمْرِ حَدًّا فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ شَرِبَ رَجُلٌ فَسَكِرَ فَلُقِيَ يَمِيلُ فِي فَجٍّ فَانْطُلِقَ بِهِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلَمَّا أَنْ حَاذَوْا بِهِ دَارَ الْعَبَّاسِ انْفَلَتَ فَدَخَلَ عَلَى عَبَّاسٍ فَالْتَزَمَهُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ فَذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَضَحِكَ وَقَالَ أَقَدْ فَعَلَهَا ثُمَّ لَمْ يَأْمُرْ فِيهِ بِشَيْءٍ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ did not set a fixed penalty for wine. Ibn Abbas ؓ said: A man drank and became drunk, and he was found staggering in a mountain pass. He was taken to the Prophet ﷺ, and when they brought him near the house of al-Abbas, he broke loose and entered upon Abbas and clung to him from behind. They mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and he laughed and said, "Did he do that?" Then he did not order anything concerning him.
