✧ Who freed his slave then needed his service?

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ قَالَ لَطَمَ ابْنُهُ مَوْلًى لَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ الْطِمْهُ قَالَ فَتَرَكَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ

كَانَ لَنَا بَنُو مُقَرِّنٍ مَمْلُوكٌ فَلَطَمَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَّا فَشَكَا ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقِيلَ لَهُ لَيْسَ لَهُ غَيْرُهُ فَقَالَ «إمَّا لَا لِيَخْدِمْهُمْ حَتَّى يَسْتَغْنُوا عَنْهُ»

✧ The Banu Muqarrin had a slave, and a man among us slapped him. He complained about that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and it was said to him that he had nothing besides him. He said, "If that is the case, then let him serve them until they can do without him."
