أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ §أَعْتَقَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي عُذْرَةَ عَبْدًا لَهُ

عَنْ دُبُرٍ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَلَكَ مَالٌ غَيْرَهُ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ يَشْتَرِيهِ مِنِّي؟» فَاشْتَرَاهُ نُعَيْمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْعَدَوِيُّ بِثَمَانِمِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ فَجَاءَ بِهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَدَفَعَهَا إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «ابْدَأْ بِنَفْسِكَ فَتَصَدَّقْ عَلَيْهَا فَإِنْ فَضَلَ شَيْءٌ فَلِأَهْلِكَ فَإِنْ فَضَلَ عَنْ أَهْلِكَ شَيْءٌ فَلِذِي قَرَابَتِكَ فَإِنْ فَضَلَ عَنْ ذِي قَرَابَتِكَ شَيْءٌ فَهَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا» يَقُولُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ وَعَنْ يَمِينِكَ وَعَنْ شِمَالِكَ

Translation

✧ by tadbir (arranging for his freedom after the owner's death). That reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "Do you have any property besides him?" He said, "No." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Who will buy him from me?" Nu'aym b. Abdullah al-'Adawi bought him for eight hundred dirhams. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ brought the money and gave it to him, then said, "Begin with yourself and give charity to it. If anything is left over, then for your family. If anything is left over from your family, then for your relatives. If anything is left over from your relatives, then like this and like this," meaning in front of you, to your right, and to your left.
