أَخْبَرَنِي زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو مَذْكُورٍ §أَعْتَقَ غُلَامًا لَهُ عَنْ دُبُرٍ
يُقَالُ لَهُ يَعْقُوبُ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ غَيْرُهُ فَدَعَا بِهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «مَنْ يَشْتَريهِ؟ مَنْ يَشْتَريهِ؟» فَاشْتَرَاهُ نُعَيْمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بِثَمَانِمِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ فَبَعَثَهَا إِلَيْهِ وَقَالَ «إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَقِيرًا فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِنَفْسِهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ فَضْلٌ فَعَلَى عِيَالِهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ فَضْلٌ فَعَلَى قَرَابَتِهِ أَوْ عَلَى ذِي رَحِمِهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ فَضْلٌ فَهَاهُنَا وَهَاهُنَا»

✧ called Ya'qub, who had nothing besides him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for him and said, "Who will buy him? Who will buy him?" Nu'aym b. Abdullah bought him for eight hundred dirhams, and he sent it to him, saying, "When one of you is poor, let him begin with himself. If there is surplus, then on his dependents. If there is surplus, then on his relatives, or on his kin. If there is surplus, then here and here."
