أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ صُدْرَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ تُوُفِّيَ وَتَرَكَ سِتَّةً مِنَ الرَّقِيقِ وَأَنَّهُ أَعْتَقَهُمْ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ أَجْمَعِينَ وَلَمْ يَدَعْ مَالًا غَيْرَهُمْ فَرُفِعَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ «فَأَقْرَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَيْنَهُمْ فَأَعْتَقَ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَرَقَّ أَرْبَعَةً»

✧ A man among the Muslims passed away during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, leaving behind six slaves. He had freed all of them at the time of death, and he left no wealth besides them. The matter was raised to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cast lots among them, freed two, and kept four in bondage.
