أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حَصِينٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَعْتَقَ سِتَّةً مَمْلُوكِينَ لَهُ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرَهُمْ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَغَضِبَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَقَالَ «قَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ لَا أُصَلِّيَ عَلَيْهِ» ثُمَّ دَعَا مَمْلُوكَيْهِ فَجَزَّأَهُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَجْزَاءٍ ثُمَّ أَقْرَعَ بَيْنَهُمْ «فَأَعْتَقَ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَرَقَّ أَرْبَعَةً»

Translation

✧ A man freed six slaves of his at his death while he had no wealth besides them. When the Prophet ﷺ learned of that, he became angry and said: "I considered not praying over him." Then he called his slaves, divided them into three parts, and cast lots among them, freeing two and keeping four in servitude.
