أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حَصِينٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَعْتَقَ سِتَّةَ أَعْبُدٍ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرَهُمْ فَأَعْتَقَهُمْ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ فَرُفِعَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ «فَكَرِهَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ جَزَّأَهُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَجْزَاءٍ فَأَقْرَعَ بَيْنَهُمْ فَأَعْتَقَ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَرَقَّ أَرْبَعَةً»

Translation

✧ A man freed six slaves, and he had no wealth besides them. He freed them at the time of his death. The matter was raised to the Prophet ﷺ, and he disliked that. Then he divided them into three portions and cast lots among them. He freed two and kept four in bondage.
