أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حَصِينٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَعْتَقَ سِتَّةَ أَعْبُدٍ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرَهُمْ فَبَلَغَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ فِيهِ قَوْلًا شَدِيدًا ثُمَّ دَعَاهُمْ فَجَزَّأَهُمْ ثُمَّ أَقْرَعَ بَيْنَهُمْ «فَأَعْتَقَ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَرَقَّ أَرْبَعَةً»

✧ A man from the Ansar freed six slaves at his death while he had no wealth besides them. When the Prophet ﷺ learned of it, he spoke harshly about it. Then he called them, divided them into parts, and cast lots among them, freeing two and keeping four in servitude.
