أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي زَيْدٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَعْتَقَ سِتَّةً مَمْلُوكِينَ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ وَلَيْسَ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرَهُمْ فَجَزَّأَهُمُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ثَلَاثَةَ أَجْزَاءٍ فَأَعْتَقَ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَرَقَّ أَرْبَعَةً وَقَالَ «لَوْ شَهِدْتُهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُدْفَنَ لَمْ يُدْفَنْ فِي مَقَابِرِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ»

✧ A man from the Ansar freed six slaves at his death while he had no wealth besides them, and the Prophet ﷺ divided them into three parts, then freed two and kept four in servitude, and said: "Had I been present before he was buried, he would not have been buried in the graveyards of the Muslims."
