al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 4927

✧ servant comes between two people, and one of them will free him, and the narrators differ in reporting the news of Abdullah b. Umar in that matter.

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ كَانَ لَهُ شِرْكٌ فِي عَبْدٍ فَأَعْتَقَهُ فَقَدْ عَتَقَ فَإِنْ كَانَ لَهُ مَالٌ قُوِّمَ عَلَيْهِ قِيمَةُ عَدْلٍ فِي مَالِهِ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ فَقَدْ عَتَقَ مِنْهُ مَا عَتَقَ»

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Whoever has a share in a slave and frees him, the slave is freed. If he has wealth, a fair value is assessed on his wealth. If he does not have wealth, only what he freed is freed.”
