أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ زُرَيْعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ كَانَ يُكْرِي مَزَارِعَهُ حَتَّى بَلَغَهُ فِي آخِرِ خِلَافَةِ مُعَاوِيَةَ أَنَّ رَافِعَ بْنَ خَدِيجٍ يُخْبِرُ فِيهَا بِنَهْيٍ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَتَاهُ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَنْهَى عَنْ كِرَاءِ الْمَزَارِعِ» فَتَرَكَهَا ابْنُ عُمَرَ بَعْدُ فَكَانَ إِذَا سُئِلَ عَنْهَا قَالَ زَعَمَ رَافِعُ بْنُ خَدِيجٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْهَا وَافَقَهُ كَثِيرُ بْنُ فَرْقَدَ وَعُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ وَجُوَيْرِيَةُ بْنُ أَسْمَاءَ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh b. Bazīʿ
  2. Yazīd / Ibn Zurayʿ
  3. Ayyūb
  4. Nāfiʿ

✧ From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He came to him while I was with him and asked him. He said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to prohibit renting farms.' Ibn 'Umar then abandoned it. After that, when he was asked about it, he would say, 'Rafi' b. Khadij claimed that the Prophet ﷺ prohibited it.' Kathir b. Farqad, 'Ubayd Allah b. 'Umar, and Juwayriyya bt. Asma' concurred with him.
