أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ اللَّيْثِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ فَرْقَدَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ كَانَ يُكْرِي الْمَزَارِعَ فَحُدِّثَ أَنَّ رَافِعَ بْنَ خَدِيجٍ يَأْثُرُ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ نَهَى عَنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ نَافِعٌ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِ عَلَى الْبَلَاطِ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ «نَعَمْ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ كِرَاءِ الْمَزَارِعِ» فَتَرَكَ عَبْدُ اللهِ كِرَاءَهَا

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Ḥakam b. Aʿyan
  2. Shuʿayb b. al-Layth from his father
  3. Kathīr b. Farqad
  4. Nāfiʿ

✧ From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he prohibited that. Nafi' said: He went out to him at al-Balat while I was with him and asked him. He said, 'Yes, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited renting farms.' 'Abd Allah then abandoned renting them.
