أَخْبَرَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا غُنْدَرٌ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ قَالَ
قِيلَ لِعَلِيٍّ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ خَصَّكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ دُونَ النَّاسِ عَامَّةً قَالَ مَا خَصَّنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِشَيْءٍ لَمْ يَخُصَّ النَّاسَ لَيْسَ شَيْئًا فِي قِرَابِ سَيْفِي هَذَا فَأَخَذَ صَحِيفَةً فِيهَا شَيْءٌ مِنْ أَسْنَانِ الْإِبِلِ وَفِيهَا «إِنَّ الْمَدِينَةَ حَرَمٌ مَا بَيْنَ ثَوْرٍ إِلَى عِيرٍ فَمَنْ أَحْدَثَ فِيهَا حَدَثًا أَوْ آوَى مُحْدِثًا كَانَ عَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ لَا يُقْبَلُ مِنْهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ صَرْفٌ وَلَا عَدْلٌ وَذِمَّةُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَاحِدَةٌ فَمَنْ أَخْفَرَ مُسْلِمًا فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ لَا يُقْبَلُ مِنْهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ صَرْفٌ وَلَا عَدْلٌ»

✧ It was said to ʿAlī: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ singled you out with something rather than the people generally.” He said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not single us out with anything he did not single out the people, except what is in the sheath of this sword of mine.” He took out a document that had something about the ages of camels, and in it was: “Madinah is a sanctuary between Thawr and ʿĪr. Whoever commits an offense in it or shelters an offender, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people. Neither obligatory nor supererogatory will be accepted from him on the Day of Resurrection. The protection of the Muslims is one; whoever violates a Muslim’s protection, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people. Neither obligatory nor supererogatory will be accepted from him on the Day of Resurrection.”
